What Does This Part Do?
The evaporator (cooling coil) is mounted inside the HVAC unit beneath the dashboard. Low-pressure refrigerant passing through the coil absorbs heat and moisture from the cabin air blown across it by the blower motor, turning warm, humid air into cool, dehumidified air at your AC vents.
